Half Moon Bay is a very popular local attraction for dog walkers and beach combers The wide and deep expanse of sandy beach at low tide provides a vast space for dogs to run and play in low season, and in warmer weather a sheltered area for enjoying the beach. Adjacent to the sandy beach is more pebbly beach. Adjacent landwards is an expanse of rough grass ever popular with dog walkers and those walking up to St Patricks chapel on Heysham Head.
